Helmstetter RCHD VIP Cue ID

Helmstetter RCHD VIP Cue ID

I recently acquired a Helmstetter RCHD VIP cue.

In my attempt to identify the model I found most with only "RCH" and only a couple with "RCHD" like mine.

Why the discrepancy? Would the "RCHD" be newer or older versions?

Mine appears to be a Helmstetter I-9 model pool cue.

I've never been able to find an answer on that either. I've seen a few others posted here and there, but nobody mentioned the RCHD (vs. RCH).

You should be able to upload photos now. The question was originally posted in the wrong section (in which uploads aren't allowed). I've moved it, so you should be good to upload. (I should also note - the site doesn't accept photos with the .heic extension. Ensure you're uploading .jpg, .jpg, .png files, etc.)

I guess you saw the one or two others ones which come up in a Google search. Both were questions on another site from 2009:

    Helmstetter VIP Questions

I recently picked up a Helmstetter VIP RCHD cue. Does anyone have any information about these line of cues? I've looked in the Blue Book and some older catalogs on line. Unfortunately I can't find any details online about these cues no matter how much I search.

NOTE: there is nothing really special about the cue I picked up except it looks really old school (4 point rosewood, 3 or 4 veneers, white-green wrap, bushka-style butt plate, etc.). The forearm is really nice figured birdseye maple. It has no rings or inlays. When I say "3 or 4 veneers" it might be a double black-red-green Veneer. The black veneer is really thick.

I am trying to find out more about this cue. I was told it has silver inlays and mother of pearl inlays. It is an 8 point cue.

Can anyone tell me about this Helmstetter cue? I was wondering what year and model and what it cost. The joint is resin with "RCHD VIP" on it, and it is signed in gold ink by Richard C. Helmstetter.

I bought it off a guy back in the early 1990s but I cannot find anything online about it.

Some responses to note from this last one:

These cues were sold by Competition Sports in NY. I would get ahold of them.

Hopefully someone stumbles by who knows the deal with the extra "D".

    Thanks for the help.

It seems that extra "D" doesn't detract from authenticity. Is a curious thing.
