A slang term given to a recreational player. A banger is a player who is considered to be lacking in skills. Banger is a derogatory term assigned to a beginner billiard player who lacks skill. The banger does not make any attempt to control the cue ball nor does he or she give any meaningful thought to position. A banger is also a term used to reference a beginner player when he or she strikes the cue ball harder than necessary.
Look at Rob, he is such a banger the way he smashes the ball around the table.
