Group is a term that refers to the particular suit of balls that a player must clear before potting the black. Group is generally the British terminology for the term suit, and there is the reds group and the yellows group. The term group is not normally used colloquially by actual players, but rather it is used in print such as rules and other billiard articles. The players normally use the name of the group itself, rather than the term group.
You are shooting the yellows group, mate.
