Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Wild as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
Description for a handicap in rotation games like 9 ball where one player may give a lesser player a wild handicap such as the wild 8. This means that the 8 Ball may go in at any time, even by accident to win a match. This is the opposite of, for example, the call 8. (where the ball needs to be pocketed in the intended pocket). Essentially, a wild handicap means the ball can be made in any manner specifically without the shot being called.
You didn't call that shot, and since it was the eight ball, you lose the game. No, I win, since for me, the 8 ball was wild because of the wild handicap you gave me.
The wild definition was entered on 4/13/2006 and was updated on 10/24/2007 9:50:15 AM. It is a cue sport term that is related to skill level.
