In cue sports or billiards, the term adjust has several meanings. One meaning of adjust is when players create a handicap of a certain number of billiard shots when players have been playing at unequal skill levels. A second meaning of adjust is when players modify an existing handicap to new terms, generally by altering the required winning scores for one or both players. In the end, the term adjust refers to any alteration of a normal billiard scoring procedure and handicap when after play commences, it has been determined that an existing handicap favors one player more than it favors another.
Although Jim and Bob are playing in the next match, they are not at equal skill levels, and so they had to adjust the handicap.
