An ahead session is another way of describing an ahead race. An ahead session is a billiard set where in order to win, one player must gain a specific lead in the number of matches won over the opponent to claim victory over the set.
I'm playing Roger next week but we agreed to give me a handicap of 5 games in the ahead session.
