Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Balance Point as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
A point on a pool cue which is normally approximately 17 inches from the butt. This is the point at which the cue will balance on a finger tip or fulcrum. Basically, it is the point where the cue rests on the hand so that it is perfectly balanced. This point's location plays a large part in how the cue feels and hits.
I got a new pool cue today, but it just doesn't feel like my old one. It doesn't play the same. I wonder if it has a different balance point?
