Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Black Ball as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
In snooker, the black ball is the highest valued color ball on the table. It is worth 7 points. Is some North American Snooker sets, it is numbered 7. In Billiards (North America) the black ball is normally the 8 ball. Not to be confused with the game of blackball.
I'm shooting at the black ball right now.
Since I have pocketed my entire group of balls, I now only need to legally pocket the 8 ball to win the game.
