Collar Definition

The term collar refers to a part of the pool cue that makes up the joint. The collar portion of the joint is actually a portion of the joint is attached to the forearm of the cue. Typically, the collar is constructed from wood, ivory, phenolic resin, or stainless steel. One end of the collar is threaded to facilitate the attachment of the two parts of the pool cue, and the other end is threaded and glued to the shaft. Such a solid construction is important and allows the cue to perform solid and stable shots.

Collar Usage

Believe it or not I dented the collar the other day when I slammed the pool cue against the floor after I lost the match. I guess that's what I get for buying counterfeit cue.
