In one pocket, when two or more balls lie sufficiently close to each other that they create either a combination or a Carom that directs a ball quite reliably toward a player's target pocket, when hit reasonably properly. Generally a dead ball does not require as accurate a hit with the cue ball than would be required for a normal shot.
Just shoot. It's a dead shot anyway, so you don't have to stress over it.
