Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Drop Pockets as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
Pockets that simply hold the balls as the shots are made. The opposite of that would be a table with a gully system. Drop pockets are usually cupped or netted pockets from which balls must be manually retrieved by players.
I hate these drop pockets, I knew I should have bought the pool table with the ball return system instead. With these drop pockets, I have to go an retrieve the balls from each individual pocket.
