A forced shot is a shot that has been considered to be cheating the pocket. This term, forced shot, is mostly used within the snooker world. A forced shot is aimed as such that the object ball will proceed into the pocket on either the left of the right of the center of the pocket's opening. A forced shot is used to either prevent a scratch, or to appropriate set up the cue ball for the next shot when exercising position play.
Hit the side pocket with a forced shot to the left and you should leave yourself with a nice shot on the 10.
