Go Off Definition

In cue sports and a gambling, to go off means to progress from playing billiards for small money, to lose at that, and to raise the stakes and keep losing until one is broke. This term is also used in the past tense as went off. When a player goes from losing small amounts of cash gambling on pool games, to making sharp increases in the stakes, that player has begun to go off. When a player begins to go off, they normally continue to lose until they are broke or until their gambling budget is exhausted.

Go Off Usage

Gary went off like a sky rocket after that small loss in game one.
