A granny stick is a mechanical bridge. Granny stick is a form of billiard slang, and would be used in such a situation where a hand bridge would be too awkward to use based on the layout and position of the cue ball and target object ball. The term granny stick is a derogatory term used to make fun of those using the mechanical bridge.
