Definition of In Hand

In Hand is a billiards term that is a part of Game Rule Terminology.

The term "in hand" has two uses in the context of cue sports. It can be a slang term used to shorten the term "ball in hand" in a non-snooker context. In the snooker context, in hand refers to allowance for the next player to be able to place the cue ball where he or she pleases within the confines of the d. This action is done either at the beginning of a snooker frame, when a cue ball has been forced off of the snooker table, or when the cue ball has been potted.
