This term jack up has two definitions as related to cue sports. The first definition is gambling related. In this context, the term jack up refers to the action of raising an initial wager or bet, or up the stakes or the ante. The second definition relates to stroke technique. In this context, the term jack up refers the action of raising or elevating the butt of the cue higher than one normally does before executing the shoot.
If you want to make that jump shot, you'll need to jack up your cue before shooting.
