Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Joint Cap as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
In reference to a billiard cue, a joint cap is a protective tool which screws on to the end of your shaft and butt when they are separated. If you are traveling with your cue stick dismantled, this tool can help keep the threads on your two-piece pool cue from getting damaged. Same as joint protector. There have even been vendors (as ridiculous as this sounds) who make joint cap pieces out of old wine corks.
Don't forget to put the joint cap on that cue before you leave the hall.
