Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Nine Ball as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
Nine Ball is a type of pocket billiard game. It apparently began in the United States in the 1920s and had a poor reputation due to the gambling and hustling activity that it attracted and became associated with. Nine Ball has become much more popular since those times, and some of the most notable billiard professionals made their name by playing it. Steve Mizerak was regarded by many as the nine ball master. You may wish to view the nine ball rules in the pool rules section of this site.
I love the game of nine ball. I want to be as good as the Mizerak.
