Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Nurse Shot as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
A nurse shot is a type of shot that is used in carom billiards games as well as in straight rail billiard games and cushion carom games. A nurse shot allows a player to score significant points due to the placement of two object balls as such that they are close together and one is froze to a rail. The shooting player can utilize the nurse shot by very lightly shooting the cue ball toward the object ball on the cushion, and caroming it lightly so that it just comes back and touches another. The player can do this in replication until all balls are pocketed. Because of the high scoring opportunities of nurse shots, there have been numerous variations of balkline billiards.
Can't you just use a nurse shot there and score a few points? The two object balls are right near each other.
