Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Pin as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
A pin is the same as a skittle. Alternatively, a pin is known as a thin rectangular flat object made from plastic which similar to a large-sized domino chip. This type of pin is around 6 inches in height and 3 inches in width. In New Zealand and Australian pin billiards, each pin is placed in an upright position on the table. In the game of victory billiards, there is one pin used, and in other games, several colors may be used. The pins may be targets or more commonly, obstacles. A black pin is prominently featured in the high stakes games shown in the billiard movie, Hard Knuckle.
Is there a full set of pins available in this pool hall?
