Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Pocket as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
A pocket, in simplest form, is an opening in the bed of a pool table and the rails in to which the object balls are shot. Pocket openings are sized differently on different types of tables, and of course, the smaller the opening, the more difficult it is to pocket an object ball.
I'm going to the 4 ball in the side pocket.
Do you have any suggestions to help me pocket the 10 ball down there?
