The term pool shark is used in the same sense as just shark. A pool shark may be a player who is extremely skilled, and rarely, if ever, loses. In terms of the billiard skill level food chain, a shark is at the very top.
Watch out for a dude named Allister. He is killer at that hall, and he's beat everyone who has played him for money.
