Pot and tuck is the name of a technique commonly used in UK eight ball whereby the shooting player calls and pots one of the balls from a cluster of balls that is considered to be laid out in a beneficial manner. The player then plays safe, leaving many of those well placed balls on the table. This is done until the opponent commits a foul of some kind, or leaves a chance that the player believes warrants an attempt at running out.
