Safe is a billiard term with several meanings. Safe is a shortened term that refers to safety. Safe describes the state of the situation for a player whom has just been left in a situation by his or her opponent whereby it is extremely difficult or impossible to pot any balls on. This situation may also be called a snooker. The term safe can be used to describe the state of a ball that lies in such a position where it is extremely difficult to pot.
There is nothing that can be done about the brown ball. It is in a safe position at the moment and we can't get to it.
