A snake shot is the same as a shot that basically goes double the rail. This snake shot occurs when the cue ball is struck and travels down a rail, bounces off of the adjacent rail, and rolls backward down the original rail. This snake shot is caused by a hit on the cue ball with a slight bit of reverse english and at a shallow angle to the rail.
You got stunned by a snake shot. That will teach you that you must learn not to use reverse english in some situations.
