Definition of Surgeon

Surgeon is a billiards slang term that is a part of Billiard Technique Terminology.

A surgeon is a billiard player who is skilled at, and consistently makes, extremely thin cut shots. This involves passing the ball cleanly through a very tiny and narrow pathway to avoid a foul and pocket their object ball. The obstacles may be the opponents object balls. The term surgeon is carried over to this billiard definition from medicine, and applies because the shooting player is thought to have to be as precise as a medical doctor when doing surgery. The term surgeon has been know for its usage in sentences referring the to action of the shot, such as making a surgical shot or surgical cut.
