Taper refers to something that goes gradually from one size to a larger size. In a cue sport context, the term taper refers to the profile of a pool cue shaft increases in diameter running from the tip to the joint or center. Fast taper means that this the diameter increases relatively quickly, and a slow taper means that it increases more gradually.
I like your new cue, but the weighting feels off. It seems to have a fast taper.
