The term tapper describes a shot where one has a chance to miscue. Usually heard in reference to long draw shots. Tapper in this sense comes from the tool, called a tip tapper, that is used to scuff the tip of a cue so that it will hold chalk, and thus, not miscue.
It's a tip-tapper.
He's been shooting those tapper shots all night.
