The D refers to the semi-circle that is marked on a snooker table behind the baulk line and centered on the middle of the line. The D is approximately 11.5 inches on the radius, and gets it's name because of it's resemblance of an upper-case letter D. The D is used in UK eight ball and in English billiards.
You have to shoot from within the D.
