Tight - Billiard Term Definition

Tight Definition

Tight is often used in billiards, pool, and cue sports in general to describe a situation where pocketing or potting (in snooker) an object ball is considerably difficult for a number of reasons. A tight shot may be created when perhaps a pocket is partially blocked by another ball and thus the path to the pocket is tight, or tighter than it would be if it were unobstructed. A tight situation can also involve threading the cue ball down a narrow path between other balls before hitting the intended object ball. Tight may also refer to the state of ones level of play. If you are playing very well, and making very precise and consistent shots, your game is said to be tight.

Tight Usage

I wonder if I can make that shot? Probably not, its very tight near the pocket, and your path is also tight.

Did you see Jefferson playing today? His game was very tight.
