Definition of Total Snooker

Total Snooker is a billiards term that is a part of Game Rule Terminology.

Total snooker is a situation, particularly in blackball, in which a player can't view any of the balls that he or she wishes to strike because of blocking from other balls or from the knuckle of the pocket. In such situations, the shooting player can call the words total snooker to the referee or official. If this is done, the player no longer needs to make contact with a cushion after contacting the object ball. If the player does not call total snooker, this type of shot would be considered a foul shot.
