Slant on my pool table

Slant on my pool table

I've recently bought a 2nd hand pool table and have noticed that the balls seem to role slightly towards the cushions. The table itself is perfectly level so I wasn't sure if this was the cloth or maybe something else? Like I say it's just near the cushions where there seems to be a slight slant. Do I need to get a new cloth or is there something else which may fix the problem. Any help is much appreciated.

May we assume it's not slate?

    No it's not slate.

Could be anything. Warped surface, bad cross pieces, bad shims, stuck in high humidity environ, the opposite; low desert humidity, you name it.

You need some strong lights, decent eyesight,-a few playing cards and a straight edge ~ 4' long. Find out just how "out" the straight edge is from the table surface and use the cards to map the lowest and highest spots.

Shims might be a help - if there's a place to stick them. Let us know what you find.
