Up Table Stun Shot Tips

Using an *up-table stun shot" is the easiest way of moving the cue ball up the table without the risk of scratching into the middle pocket. This up table stun shot drill will help you develop this skill.

Up Table Stun Shot Tips

This drill is similar to the accurate stun shot practice drill, except we start with the cue ball from in the kitchen instead of up the table close to the object ball.

To do the up-table stun shot drill, place the object balls as shown in the diagram.

Strike the cue ball about a tip below center to stun up the table to position B, pocketing the 1 ball, and leaving the cue ball ready to play the 2-ball dead straight in the corner. The goal of the first shot is to do an accurate up-table stun shot on the first ball causing the cue ball to come back into close position on the 2 ball. Pocket the two ball straight in. The goal is to do

If you have not done this properly, e.g. your second ball won't be a straight-in shot, then start over...

After pocketing the first two balls, you leave those in the pocket, and repeat the drill by resetting the cue ball back behind the head string at position A, and do the same steps as above for balls 3 and 4, and so-on. If you don't do it perfectly at any step, start over.

Up-Table Stun Shot Drill

Once you master this on one side of the table e.g. do all 4 sets of two balls with perfect position, then you can move the setup to the opposite pocket and repeat.

This diagram shows the setup and the first set of two shots. Repeat this for the 3 and 4 balls, 5 and 6 balls, and 7 and 8 balls, starting over if you mess up at any step.
