I just purchased a low end pool table (about $2000) with 1", 3 piece slate. It was locally made and seemed to be a good value. Since installation I have noticed a few things that I'm not sure whether to be concerned about or not. One thing is that I notice that when I rack the balls, several of the balls seem to have a preferred location and do not stay tight against adjacent balls. I observed the table installation and noticed that the slate top surface was not polished smooth but seemed to have small cut ridges. Question 1) Should the balls stay tight in the rack?. 2) Are ridges normal for a slate surface? I also notice that the balls seem to wobble a little as they come to a stop. 3) Is this normal? I appreciate any comments from qualified sources. Thanks.
