Im looking to buy a billiard table and my budget is $1500. After reading a lot of reviews on Spencer Marston tables, from Billiard EX, I'm leaning away from it day by day. I don't know pros or con's about billiard tables but I love to play. I understand that most tables are about 1"slate. I want an oversized slate on my 8 foot billiard table. I want something thats solid, and not a Chinese product. I looked at tables from pooltablesdirect.com . Most of their tables are made by Greenleaf Billiards. Are they reputable?
Hi Raza and welcome to the site. You are facing a dilemma that many have faced. That dilemma is either spend big bucks to get a trusted brand pool table, or save the big bucks and get a mass-market and lesser known brand pool table. If your budget is $1500, you may not have much of a choice. Id post your question in the forum where other members can view your question, and give you feedback. You can register, or if you want, just use "guest" as the login and password to post. Its been hard to judge the quality of those tables, because it seems that not many serious players (those who post in billiard forums) have purchased those brands of billiard tables. Either way, let us know what your choice is, and how your came to decide. There was one billiard table from pooltablesdirect.com discussed in the forum a while back, but not much was said.
As far as damaging the billiard balls, you have nothing to worry about (unless your floor is made of spiky material that might put "dings" in the ball). Mostly you have to worry about the bouncing pool ball damaging the flooring (as it can with ceramic tile, or a wood floor).
