A blocker is one or several balls that lie between an otherwise playable ball and a potential scoring pocket, or between the cue ball and the playable object ball such that a direct shot to the pocket is blocked, turning the shot into at best a challenging combination.
The table is full of blockers because you have cleared most of your balls before the opponent has even had a chance to shoot. You have your work cut out for you on your last few balls.
