Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Call as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
A call takes place when any instance of a billiard player having to explain or say what they are about to do, or have already done occurs. For example, in eight ball billiards, a pool player must call the pocket that an object ball is intended to be pocketed. Most of the time, the call must be made before the shot is executed by the shooting player. No slop billiards requires that all aspects of a shot be called by the player.
