In blackball pool, colours refers to the suits of red and yellow balls. In North American billiards, colours refers to the suits of stripes and solids. In Snooker, where the term colors is primarily used, colours refers to any ball that is not the cue ball or a ball from the group of reds.
Your set of colours is not complete. You are missing the black ball.
You just potted a red, so now your object ball is a ball from the colours group.
