Welcome to the billiard, pool, and snooker glossary of terms. This is the definition of Creep as it relates to cue sports. You can also view the entire billiard dictionary.
In billiards and other cue sports, creep is the very deviation of a ball in motion from it's original or intended direction of travel. Creep is generally the result of billiard, pool, or snooker table of poor quality. Creep may very well be an artifact of poor cloth, uneven bed or playing surface, a ball with an uneven weight or wear and tear, or possibly an uneven floor. Creep is not caused by a nap or fold in the cloth, and should not be confused as such. Creep is categorized under the Pool Tables category because it is a phenomenon mostly caused by a negative state of the table or playing surface. It is true that a player's skill can overcome creep, but it is also true that it can not prevent it, as it is mostly caused by negative playing conditions surrounding the table.
Your shot was perfect if the table's conditions were good. Too bad creep was a factor, otherwise you'd have made that shot.
