The action a cue ball takes as the result of applied backspin after striking the target object ball. The backspin is applied by striking the cue ball slightly below the center point. Once it strikes the object ball, its backspin causes it to draw back from the object ball toward it's original location. This billiard technique is used to ensure good cue ball positioning.
He made the cue ball draw back after hitting the 6 ball so that he would have a decent shot at the 7 ball.
