A fault is essentially a foul in various cue sports. The term is used mainly in British billiard terminology. The term fault is used less and less as time goes on, as the more common term, foul, tends to take its place. The WEFP Blackball rules and the WPA both use the term foul in place of the term fault in modern correspondence.
