Definition of Gentlemans Call

Gentlemans Call is a billiards slang term that is a part of Game Rule Terminology.

Gentleman's call refers to a less rigid version of call shot or no slop. When playing gentleman's call rules, the shooting player need only call the shots which are not obvious to the other players, or the shots for which the opponent requests clarification on. Also, instead of calling all details of all shots, gentleman's call only requires the shooting player to call the target object ball, and the target pocket. An obvious shot would be one where all players know the target object ball and target pocket just by looking at the shooting player's aiming attempts. According to gentleman's call, the opponent reserves the right to ask the shooting player for clarification.

See: call, call shot, called ball, called pocket, slop, no slop, slop shot, gentlemens call, called shot, call it all, call the ball and pocket, call everything, ball and pocket, call pocket for more on the meaning of "Gentlemans Call".
