A get out of jail shot is a shot where your ball is surrounded by the opponent's object balls and you shoot the cue ball as such that is bounces off of the cushion and over the object balls to hit the intended target object ball. This is done by playing the cue ball at the 12 o'clock position. The top spin generated will cause the cue ball to jump off the cushion. The shooting player must be sure to move cue away from the path of the cue ball at this juncture.
