A house man is a billiard hall or pool room employee or staff member who plays with a rather high degree of skill. Sometimes a house man is referred to in a derogatory sense in that they are pretty good, but couldn't cut it in competitive play at the amateur or professional level. Sometimes the term house man is used in a humorous sense, in that the house man normally thinks they are the best player on the earth, but of course, others see him or her as a failure.
I'm the best pool player around, so bow down. Whatever Rick, you're nothing but a house man.
