Screw is a British term used commonly in the UK to refer to draw. Screw is applied to the cue ball by striking it below the equator in order to impart a backspin while it is still sliding forward toward the target object ball. The application of screw causes friction which slows the cue ball, and causes it to either stop or begin to change it forward course to a backward course after hitting the target object ball.
Tim, you have to give that cue ball some screw so that you can bring it out from the rail after it hits the object ball.
