An umbrella shot is a billiard shot used in three cushion billiards. An umbrella shot occurs when the cue ball initially hits two cushions then hits the first object ball, and then contacts a third cushion. The umbrella shot gets its name from the pattern that is created as the shot opens up in a manner that looks like an umbrella opening up once the ball hits the third rail. Umbrella shots can be sub-categorized as an inside umbrella shot or an outside umbrella shot. The categorization depends on which side of the first object ball the cue ball contacts after hitting the second rail.
That was an awesome umbrella shot. It would have been nicer if it had been an outside umbrella shot.
