Billiard Shot Strategy Flowchart

I once had a one-page copy of a "Yes/No" or "If/Then" decision-maker flow chart for pool players that I would like to see again.

It was a billiard shot strategy flow chart to help with the decision making process during a pool shot.

It seemed like it had about 15 or 20 boxes to lead me through every shot and, eventually, an entire game of 8-Ball.

It started with a decision of:

"which group of balls to choose on an open table"

... on down to:

"fouling on purpose"

It was akin to a computer logic layout flow chart diagram, but for a game of 8 ball.

I may have to create my own, of course, with an emphasis on making decisions based on the percentages of making the presenting shot rather than a finite "this-or-that" choice matrix.

Is there anyone who might remember this gem? If so, please let me know, or create your own!

I'm looking forward to gifting it to player-friends of mine who don't immediately grasp the strategy involved with the game.

    That would be a cool product.

    In researching this, I did find a few billiard flow charts, but they are grossly inadequate compared with the one you described (see below).

    If we can collectively reproduce the one you mentioned, I would consider producing a nice-looking "poster-size" version for game room walls, or a "pocket size" version for individuals to carry around in a cue case, etc.

    I just don't have the time to sit down and map it all out. It would take a non-trivial amount of time to do it right. Lots of testing, iterating, etc.

    Either way, good luck finding an original or building a new one from scratch. Let me know if you end up with a viable version that we can produce and sell.

    Yes, that second version seemed close. I don't remember any percentages listed in the page I saw years ago; that was my first suggestion, I guess!
