A common shot in 9-ball, where you have to swing th cue ball around 1 or more rails for position.
Here you are on the 1-ball, the 2 doesn't go past the 5, and the combo (plant) you might as well forget about. The only pocket the 2 goes into is the same as the 1.
The aim of the shot is to pot the 1, draw the cue ball with right hand side, swing it off 2 rails, to come to rest at Position D, ready to play the 2 in the same pocket.
Too much draw - you may finish at position A! Too much side - you may finish behind the 5 snookering yourself on the 2
This shot requires some feel for the pace of the table. You may have to adjust the stroke depending on how the table is playing (fast / slow etc)
Beware - shots when the object ball are near the jaws of a pocket may look easy, as we take the pot for granted, but it's often much harder to get good position from these type of shots than you may think!

This "Tip" is just a space filler. I see no information for the reader/user. This is more of a News Paper release of something that happened. Hey, it is very easy. I got a good shot on the 1 and can make it. The 2 is embedded. What would be nice to do is to pocket the 1, carom off of twelve rails, scare the daylights out of your opponent with this shot, line up perfectly on the two and run the rack. (PS a 7 rail carom/bank is almost impossible with just the cue ball on nothing else on the table...) Still no help to anyone. You folks can do better than this. We know it. Thanks for all the good stuff. This one just lacks..
Yes and no. It's a different type of technique or tip than most are used to reading online, and it is meant more to get the player thinking. (though it doesn't come out and say it) It is meant to paint a situation and get the reader to be "aware" of a situation that they may not be cognizant of while playing. It IS missing a few images, and we'll work to get those online asap.
Ah... How refreshing to see editors who care about their readers thoughts. I have read so many of your good comments I just thoughts this one was lacking something. I am looking forward to the next post. Thank you for what you have done.
Thanks for the note! You seem to be relatively experienced in cue sports, so if you ever want to write something, we'd be happy to publish it...
Thank you sir. I do enjoy the games where we battle opponents and a table to include weather variables and physical conditions of the players with those items that Jed Clampet called "pot passers." I have many times considered turning my cue into an exclusive "pot passer."
